This September, we welcomed members to our Annual General Meeting for an opportunity to connect, enjoy refreshments, and celebrate the last year’s achievements.
Our AGM is more than just a formal gathering. It’s a moment to reflect on the work our team has accomplished over the past year and look ahead to what’s next. Attendees had the chance to review our progress in our 2025 Annual Report, and hear a short video message from our President & CEO, Jane Talbot.
As part of the formal proceedings, members reviewed the Auditor’s Report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, appointed an auditor for the upcoming year, adopted the proposed 2026–27 budget, and elected new board members who will help guide Downtown Van into the future.
Following the AGM, we transitioned into the second part of the evening, the Appreciation Awards Ceremony. This year, we proudly recognized outstanding individuals in six distinguished categories—including new this year, the Unsung Hero Award. The recipients of these awards have all demonstrated leadership, commitment and impact within the downtown core. Congratulations to all of our 2025 award recipients! The Unsung Hero Award was presented by our President & CEO. The remaining rewards were presented by Luca Citton and Serene Chow from Boughton Law, our Official Sponsor for the evening.
