Summer Movie Nights is back and better than ever!

Brought to you by Downtown Van, this free, family-friendly event is set to transform the heart of downtown Vancouver into an open-air theatre. Grab your loved ones, cozy up on šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza), and prepare for an unforgettable evening under the stars.

What: Summer Movie Nights is a free outdoor movie event. Movies are played on a 33-foot inflatable screen and begin at sundown. As a warm-up to each film, there will be activations such as face painting, dancers, circus performers, DJ’s, mini golf, and more!  

When: Thursday evenings, July 4—Aug 15, 2024. Movies begin at sundown, with performances and activities beginning at 5 pm

Where: šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (formerly known as the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza)

Feature Nights

Thursday, July 4, 2024: Barbie (Opening Night)

  • Attendees are invited to wear their best Barbie-themed attire and walk the “Pink Carpet” for their chance to win some awesome prizes.
  • A life-sized Barbie Box photo booth will also be on-site for movie-goers to enjoy.
  • Pop Queen Cardio will host a dance workshop for those eager to learn the choreography from the film.
  • During the movie, Canada’s Drag Race star,  Synthia Kiss and Vancouvers Reigning Drag Superstar 2024 Androgynass, will perform iconic dance sequences from the film alongside the talented Quill Collective dance team.

Thursday, July 11, 2024: The Devil Wears Prada

  • Fashion show presented by VIFF featuring local designers and models showcasing the local fashion scene.

Thursday, July 18, 2024: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

  • Surprise activation from Summer Movie Nights Silver Sponsor, M&M’S® Canada.
  • Spectacle moments by high-flying and action-packed performers from NZR Productions.

Thursday, August 1, 2024: Mamma Mia!

  • Pride Night celebration presented by Public Disco featuring all-ages disco tunes spun by a variety of local DJ’s, lots of dancing, and an ABBA-themed drag show.

Thursday, August 15, 2024: Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse (Closing Night)

  • Participate in a cosplay costume contest and fun games.
  • Watch super-heroic entertainers do what no mere human can.

All seven Summer Movie Nights will also include:
