June is a Nehiyaw iskwew (Cree Woman) and a proud member of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation from Sandy Bay, Saskatchewan. Her Cree name is Muskwa Iskwew.

After studying Political Science at the University of British Columbia, June explored a variety of career paths before discovering her true passion: “working with people.”

That passion led her to become the National Elected Representative for the Aboriginal Friendship Centres of British Columbia, where she spent four years helping negotiate an expansive budget for friendship centres across Canada, “an experience she would cherish always” June says. For the next 20 years, June lived in Bangkok, Thailand, where she owned and operated a successful real estate company. Along the way, she embraced every opportunity to explore the world, sharing that she was fortunate to have “traveled to 26 countries and got to experience the rich culture of many nations”.

While she had seen the world, she longed to return home. Five years ago, June made that dream a reality by opening Mystic Medicines in downtown Vancouver. Through her business, she offers Indigenous Healing, Life Coaching, Trauma Therapy, Life Readings, Tarot Card Readings, Sound Healing, Meditation and Healing Circles, creating a welcoming space where people can connect, heal and grow.

Beyond Mystic Medicines, June continues to support others as a Resident Elder at Capilano University and Douglas College, sharing her knowledge, wisdom and lived experiences with students and the broader community.

Reflecting on her remarkable journey, June sums it up simply: “I am blessed”.
