Now more than ever, it is important that we come together as a community to support local businesses and keep Canadian products top of mind when evaluating purchase decisions.

Downtown Van supports the motion brought forward by Councillors Fry and Bligh to affirm Vancouver’s commitment to the “Team Canada” approach. However, to ensure shoppers come downtown, we must address ongoing challenges. The City must prioritize speeding up permit wait times to enable businesses to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. There is also a pressing need to allocate more resources to public safety, so that residents, workers, and visitors feel safe and confident coming downtown. Collaboration and partnership among all levels of government — municipal, provincial, and federal — will be critical in driving these initiatives forward, ensuring that we take the necessary steps to protect our local economy while strengthening out position as a vibrant, resilient city.

Downtown Van continues to actively represent the interests of our members by advocating with all levels of government through our strong partnerships with BIA BC (provincial) and IDA Canada (federal).
