To coincide with Mental Health Week (May 6 – 12), Downtown Van will be hosting Dog Therapy Thursday on May 9th, 2024.

About the Event:

Having a ruff day? Enjoy a canine therapy session from Hero Dawgs during your lunch hour on May 9, 2024. We’re paws-ative you’ll enjoy the complimentary hot chocolate or coffee from Mink Chocolates, Canadian idol star and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Lecky, and unleash your creativity at the Dog Felting Station, courtesy of MakeMobile! Research has proven that interacting with affectionate dogs can reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, lower blood pressure, and decrease the perception of pain. Canine therapy can offer anyone who is feeling stressed or overwhelmed the opportunity to relax through interaction with dogs.

About HERO DAWGS:

HERO DAWGS Pet Therapy is a non-profit society dedicated to providing canine-assisted wellness visits to critical care healthcare workers and first-responders in British Columbia. Its volunteer team of “DOGtors” also conduct corporate wellness visits to support companies and organizations with their wellness programs. Through community support, and the support of its founding partner, Odlum Brown, the society aims to further recruit, train and place more HERO DAWGS in BC hospitals.
