Art Overhead: Spherescape
Downtown Van in collaboration with Vignettes is excited to launch Spherescape!
An immersive installation designed to evoke excitement, wonder, and connection. Inspired by global artists who explore joy through shape, curve, and multiplicity, we wanted to incorporate these elements in Robson Square Plaza that invites you to pause, play, and simply be.
WHERE: Robson Square Plaza (800 Robson St)
WHEN: The installation will be up from August 28th to October 31st, 2025.
The vibrantly coloured spheres suspended in the air disrupt the linear forms of the surrounding streetscape, encouraging you to pause, look up, and acknowledge your surroundings. Spherical and colourful site furnishings mirror the spheres at ground level and welcome people to sit, look up, and enjoy the installation.
Even brief encounters with new, visually distinct environments can spark small shifts in our brain chemistry, causing a lift in mood and spirit. Spherescape offers a moment of lightness in the heart of the city, whether you’re stopping to explore or just passing through. Take a seat on a dome, look up, and let the space reframe your perspective.
About Vignettes
VignettesTM is an experiential design and build agency based in Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton, AB). Multidisciplinary at heart, they work with public and private organizations to create engaging spaces that tell a story. Intentionally unfocused, working on everything from small benches to large-scale commercial projects with the connecting thread of creating an experience through design.
