Bring a t-shirt you want to recycle, and learn some basic weaving skills!

This free outdoor public weaving event shares enthusiasm for the process of weaving. This event is hands-on, focused on upcycling, encouraging all who attend to take part by sharing old clothes and learning how to make them into something new. Any old t-shirt or similar fabrics can be cut up and begin their second life!

Visitors can expect to access simple weaving frames, upcycling materials and on-site demonstrations.  This event will focus on how to create a small project that participants can take home or contribute to our growing community fabric banner!

Dress according to the weather of the day. Some limited seating and shade will be available.

Community Fabric is an ad-hoc gathering of artists, curators, textile designers, costume designers, and academics. We are also budding amateur weavers and enthusiasts for sharing knowledge and supporting creative practice in accessible forms.  Alison Arliss / Allison Collins / Beverley Huynh / Germaine Koh / Violetta Lapinski / Seema Mehra
