Downtown Vancouver’s most iconic and totally free outdoor movie series returns!

Presented by Downtown Van, this beloved free outdoor movie series returns to šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (formerly the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza), running every Thursday evening from July 3 to August 14. Following a record-breaking 2024 season, this year promises unforgettable surprise moments and spectacle displays.

What: Summer Movie Nights is a free outdoor movie event where movies are played on a 33-foot inflatable screen. Each night, activities kick off at 5 PM, featuring live music, performances, games, food trucks, and more, followed by the movie screening at sundown (around 9 PM).

When: Thursday evenings, July 3—Aug 14, 2025. Movies begin at sundown, with performances and activities beginning at 5 pm

This year, we’re turning up the fun before the film! Starting at 5 PM, come early to enjoy a variety of exciting movie-themed activities, games, and interactive experiences for all ages. Don’t forget to dress to impress—our costume contests are back, and prizes are up for grabs! The feature-film for family night is The Wild Robot, the beloved Oscar-nominated and Academy Award-winning adventure that’s perfect for all ages. On August 7th, get ready to sing your heart out at our special screening of Wicked – costumes, vocals, and full-on Broadway energy is highly encouraged! Building on the success of last year’s mid-film performances during the opening night of Barbie, we’ve planned several surprises this year to deliver a unique and immersive viewing experience.
