LOCAL APP FINDS SUITABLE DOWNTOWN RESTAURANTS FOR FOOD RESTRICTIONS

Honeycomb, a local app start-up is helping those with dietary restrictions explore new restaurants.

Over 10% of the population has an allergy, and an even larger portion follow a diet. For most, finding suitable dishes at restaurants is a frustrating process.

A local app start-up is helping those with dietary restrictions explore new restaurants. Honeycomb filters through hundreds of local restaurant menus and recommends options for nine major diets and over two dozen allergies.

While it’s increasingly easier to discover vegan and gluten-free options downtown, Honeycomb also supports lesser-known restrictions, such as Paleo, low FODMAP, and Soy. The first-of-its-kind app can also combine two diets or allergies for more refined selections.

Here are a few of Honeycomb’s recommendations for accessible diet and allergy friendly restaurants in downtown Vancouver:

Tractor:
With three locations in downtown and plenty of plant-based, keto, and low carb options, this is a go to spot for a healthy and comforting meal. Their stand-outs are the seasonal market sides.

Nuba:
This modern Lebanese spot makes it easy to eat plant-based, though their meat options shine too. Try it out for one of the tastiest cauliflower dishes in downtown.

Smak:
This 100% gluten free restaurant is a haven for anyone wanting healthy and nutritious fast food for any meal of the day. Check out their three locations in downtown for great bowl & smoothie combos.
