Ilhan Saferali Trio
Ilhan is a rising young musician making a name for himself in the jazz scene. Ilhan has cultivated a versatile repertoire of play styles such as Jazz, Rock, Funk and Latin, taking inspiration from classical pianists such as Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, and modern jazz players like Brad Mehldau. Ilhan prides himself on his mature sound and complex solo routines, and he hopes to be an inspiration to other budding jazz musicians and a torchbearer for jazz on both a local and global scale.

A creative spirit and soulful innovator, Kristin Fung is an unusually refreshing and infectiously joyful voice on the Canadian music scene. Her ferocious, tender, and alluring performances as a vocalist, keyboardist, and composer traverse multiple musical landscapes. Kristin leads her R&B band of originals infused with her signature super funky soul grooves (“You For You,” “Straight to the Heart of It” and “Massive Stride” available now on all digital platforms), Fung has performed at Roulette (NYC), Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Markham Jazz Festival, and more.

Shawn Bullshields is a singer, guitarist and harmonica player with natural charisma and professional delivery. His repertoire of songs includes the genres of pop, country and folk.
A member of the Blackfoot Nation, Shawn grew up on the Blood Reserve, Standoff, Alberta. In the early ‘90s, he moved to Vancouver and started dabbling in singing and guitar playing; the harmonica came later. He is an easy-listening, acoustic performer. In any given set, you could hear James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, Elton John, Cold Play, The Lumineers, Snow Patrol and many more. He covers all the favourites and makes each one his own, delights audiences familiar with the song and those who are hearing it for the first time.
The Long Drop

Michaela Cunningham was born in Vancouver, grew up on Salt Spring Island. She has played in Concertina, Tin Whistle, and had sung for over 20 years. In her teens, she nurtured her passion for traditional music by listening to her Irish mother’s recordings and frequent visits to Ireland, where she participated in summer music schools. Michaela plays at various events and venues in Vancouver, the US, and has recently been doing online concerts and teaching. Michaela and the Long Drop will be joining by special guests on a variety of instruments throughout the season.
Doe Bender’s Jazz Group plays songs of life, love, romance, and occasionally heartbreak. With over 20 years of experience, they have performed for The Vancouver International Jazz Festival, MCL Motorcars Ltd., Grouse Mountain’s Peak of Christmas, The Surrey Memorial Hospital Fundraising, to name a few. The repertoire is made up of Swing, Latin, Pop, Ballads, Originals, and Rock. Instrumentation is keyboard, vocals, and acoustic bass.

On a mission to capture the sound of Django Reinhardt’s gypsy jazz of the ’30s and ’40s, Django’s Jewels are the next generation of gypsy swing in western Canada. The jewels swing hard and fast, with energy and lots of feels. This string band plays with traditional gypsy acoustic guitars, while the violin and upright bass complete the jewels’ unique vintage sound. The raw swing of Django’s Jewels packs a serious bite not heard often in the biz today.
