A message from Charles Gauthier

Dear members,

You’ve heard from me on several emerging issues recently, all related to the continued spread of COVID-19 and the DVBIA’s response. In the past two weeks, the DVBIA has taken several measures to help flatten the curve and prevent the spread of the virus. These efforts include temporarily suspending the services provided by our Clean Team and our Downtown Safety Ambassadors, having our office staff work from home, and postponing all member events until gatherings are once again deemed safe by Health Canada. To meet the current needs of our member businesses, we have also recently deployed a mobile security presence that will patrol the DVBIA’s 90-block district from 10:00pm – 7:00 am.

In an effort to help our members navigate these difficult times, we have developed a webpage to house information related to the evolving impact of COVID-19. This new tab can be found from our home page, and includes provincial and local health authority updates, business resource information, virtual event listings, and more.

In a short span of time, the DVBIA team has been able to successfully pivot their regularly-scheduled annual programming to be responsive to the emerging needs of our members as a result of COVID-19. We are already hard at work developing campaigns and programs to support the relief and recovery efforts that will be so needed in the coming months. We have been working with both local and provincial partners, and are staying apprised of emerging issues such as safety and security, economic recovery, and festival sponsorship, among others. Our priority continues to be supporting our member businesses, who are, and always have been, at the heart of all our work.
