Vancouver Tourism Awards Gala

30th Annual Vancouver Tourism Awards Gala Breakfast – November 6, 2019

In addition to the monthly awards presentation, the Vancouver Tourism Award’s annual Gala Breakfast honours and recognizes the year’s monthly winners as well as each and every nominee put forward throughout the year. This event is the VTA’s way of saying “thank you” to those special people who make our city such a wonderful place to live and visit.

This year’s breakfast gala will take place on November 6, 2019 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, and will feature special guest Darby Allen, fire chief during the 2016 Fort McMurry wildfires.

During the catastrophic Alberta wildfires, fire chief Darby Allen shot to global acclaim for guiding the 88,000 residents of Fort McMurray to safety with no loss of life—the largest evacuation in Canadian history. His updates to the media were not only a means of reliable information, but a source of optimism—Allen provided calm reassurance as the lead spokesperson throughout the rescue efforts.
