As Vancouver locals, we questioned why self-storage facilities were being built in new, concrete eye-sores across the city, or on ever-dwindling industrial land – particularly when that land can be used for businesses employing a lot more people than storage does! Storage facilities are also getting further and further away from where people need them – close to their business or home. Our mission is to be kind to people and the planet by re-thinking self-storage.
We had a simple solution. Why not recycle existing under-utilized urban spaces instead? In this way, we can provide sustainable self-storage solutions in ultra-convenient downtown locations.
With fewer people driving every year, we decided to start with, otherwise-empty underground car parking, and have worked with EasyPark on our first location at 900 West Cordova Street. As far as we can tell, it’s the first of its kind in Vancouver (possibly anywhere!). The facility is ultra-secure, with 24/7 surveillance, on-site security, patrols and controlled entry.
In terms of being kind to people – our company has simple and transparent pricing, no lock-in contracts or cancellation penalties, and is supporting at-risk youth through Covenant House.
